St. Leonard, MD – For weeks ticket holders have waited for Luke Bryan and his entourage to pull into Southern Maryland. The SOLD OUT concert of over 6,000 had already been the buzz on Facebook and social media networks. The morning of July 6th started with a viral picture text message of Luke Bryan, taken at the local World Gym in Prince Frederick where he’d just worked out.
Despite the heat of over 100 degrees, the crowd started once the gates opened. Following pockets of shade to stay cool, the sun finally descended, and it was time for the opening band, “River City Gang” to take the stage.
As Frank Dawson, of WKIK, introduced VIP Wounded Warrior members and went over the standard do’s and don’ts members from Sports Clips and WKIK tossed shirts and beads into the crowd. Pausing for our National Anthem, sung by Tiffany Krail, the excitement for the evening ahead grew.
After 8pm Luke Bryan took the stage opening with “Rain”, Bryan’s first “Number One Billboard Hot Country Songs” hit during the month of July, 2010. Bryan continued despite the heat pounding out song after song delighting the crowd with constant energy and hype. Switching from guitar to piano, Bryan mixed a few oldies into his play list even giving his own rendition of Lionel Ritchie’s “Easy.”
This is one concert from St. Leonard Fire Department that will be talked about for weeks to come. As Bryan’s own lyrics in “Drunk on You” suggest, the crowd was “drunk on him and high on summertime.” “Country Boy Hot,” has been redefined.
