This morning Southern Maryland woke to a blanket sheet of snow. A whole 4-5 inches depending on where you live.  Judging from looking out my back door, (because I dare not venture further) it looks like we are in the 5 inch category. I classify it as a “sheet” of snow mainly because if you ask our northern neighbors they are still catching their breath by laughing; that we would even classify it as a storm, event or anything outside of their “normal” day this time of year. Schools are closed, liberal leave policies are in effect, appointments have been cancelled…. accidents have occurred. For those involved in those accidents, I pray everyone is ok and only minimum damage has been sustained.

As I sit and I watch the wind whip around the powdery – what I consider – “mess” outside my window, my space heater whirs forced heat towards me.  This is NOT my time of year. Yet I cannot help but marvel at it’s beauty, on some level… and enjoy the sense of peace and solitude it provides.  I’m not going to lie, I would still rather be sitting on a beach somewhere… sipping a nice drink with a little umbrella and feeling the warmth of the rays on my skin. But – I am not. So I am left here to accept my fate, that here I am, on a day when we were suppose to have a “dusting” as opposed to last weeks “storm,” — that was no more than rain. I contemplate my state of mind for scheduling a hair appt when I knew there was “something” in the forecast. Though based on the “winter storm” we received last week, which was only rain… one could understand my decision.

So for viewing pleasure, I post a few shots from my windows, and sliding glass door… after all, it’s not 1130ish yet, and I’m not going out, until I absolutely have to… have a warm day. 🙂
